BACKGROUND
Mulopa Martin
Ndalameta
Mulopa is a commercial dispute resolution partner with over 10 years
experience. He is a seasoned litigator in various courts and has represented
a plethora of clients, both local and international, before arbitral tribunals
and superior courts in Zambia. Of significance is his experience in
commercial arbitration where he has assisted clients in different sectors
including mining, FMCGs, construction and public procurement. He also
presently serves as the Court Member for Zambia in the International
Chamber of Commerce’s International Court of Arbitration.
Mulopa is also an alumni of both the ICC Advanced Arbtiration Academy
for Africa and the Africa Arbitration Academy, and a member of the
Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Zambia branch. Mulopa has a bias
towards construction law and is the country representative for Africa
Construction Law, which is the global platform that showcases the
continent’s expertise.

ARBITRATOR EXPERIENCE
• Presided over a dispute concerning material damage to a dwelling
house during performance under a Contractors All Risk and Public
Liability Insurance covering USD 36 749 196. 58 for project works
in the Lusaka Sanitation Program, aimed at rehabilitating,
upgrading and expanding sewerage systems in Lusaka.• Sole arbitrator in a dispute between a major mining company and a
contractor engaged through public tender at a cost of
approximately USD 400 000 to conduct drilling works at an
exploration site. Issues revolved around compensation events,
valuation of incomplete work, liquidated damages, advance
payment and return of original performance bond• Performance of regular award scrutiny as ICC Court member, and
determination of challenges to arbitrators under ICC Rules• Arbitrated a dispute between a land developer and purchaser of a
property for USD 200 000 over contractual term and whether it
entitled purchaser to specific performance and special damages said
to arise from the breach• Presided over a contractual dispute between a local authority and a
contractor engaged to supply and deliver solar street lamps.
Determined question whether specifications as to height of poles,
duration of light and brightness had been met and whether
