Mulopa, a seasoned commercial dispute resolution partner, brings over 11 years of experience as a litigator in various courts. He has successfully represented a wide range of clients, both local and international, before arbitral tribunals and superior courts in Zambia. Mulopa’s expertise extends to commercial arbitration, particularly in sectors like mining, FMCGs, and agricultural and commodities trade. He is an alumnus of the Africa Arbitration Academy, a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and specializes in construction law as the country representative for the Africa Construction Law platform. Advised Konkola Copper Mines Plc (in liquidation) (“KCM”) in legal action against Milingo Lungu, the former provisional liquidator, and Lungu Simwanza & Company. KCM, a subsidiary of Vedanta Resources Limited, is a prominent player in Zambia’s mining sector, operating mines and processing facilities primarily in the Copperbelt region. Key assets include the Konkola Mine and Konkola Deep Mining Project (KDMP), symbolizing KCM’s commitment to innovation. KCM significantly contributes to Zambia’s copper production, playing a crucial role in the nation’s economic development.

Chanda has a corporate legal career spanning over 14 years. She is renowned for her expertise in banking & finance, capital markets, competition law, TMT, and data protection and regulatory compliance. She managed the entire process, including drafting sale agreements and ancillary documents such as novation deeds to transfer fibre customers. This pioneering deal established Bayobab Zambia as an exclusive fibre connectivity provider in Zambia and beyond, facilitating cross-border digital capacity transmission. It opened new opportunities for investment in the fibre sector, crucial for advancing Africa’s digital transformation agenda.

Harriet, a Partner and team leader, has over 12 years of experience in various corporate and commercial law matters in Zambia. Her expertise includes mergers and acquisitions, energy and infrastructure, real property, regulatory compliance, and corporate governance. Harriet excels in structuring and negotiating complex domestic and multijurisdictional transactions, serving a diverse client base from multinational entities to private equity funds and NGOs. She serves as a director in insurance and financial institutions and is the President of the French Business Circle. Harriet has worked with notable companies such as Goviex Uranium, Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), Anglo American, and Total Energy, showcasing her extensive industry experience.

Harriet provided legal counsel to GoviEx Uranium Inc. for its participation in a bought deal placement financing. As the holding company of GoviEx Uranium Zambia Limited, Muchinga Energy Resources Limited, and Chirundu Joint Ventures Zambia Limited, the client issued a title opinion on its Zambian subsidiaries’ operations to facilitate the placement. This financing secured necessary funds for advancing uranium exploration and mining, a pivotal step in Zambia’s efforts to diversify its resource sector and enhance economic growth while contributing to global energy security.

Yosa G. Yosa

Yosa is a seasoned litigator with extensive experience in private and public law dispute resolution, including criminal litigation. He provides corporate and commercial advice on a wide range of matters, such as commercial, construction, public law, competition, forensics, insolvency, and employment. An accredited insolvency practitioner and member of Insol International, Yosa specializes in business rescue and restructuring. Leading the firm’s forensics practice, he leverages his criminal defense background in financial crimes. Yosa serves on the board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Zambia and has represented notable clients like Multichoice, First National Bank, and Konkola Copper Mines PLC.

Yosa advised Natural Valley Limited in a mortgage action by Access Bank. In 2014, clients obtained ZMW16,000,000 in loans from Access Bank and Cavmont Bank (later acquired by Access Bank). Discrepancies in interest calculations arose during the banks’ merger. Despite efforts to resolve the issues, Access Bank initiated legal proceedings claiming sums owed, while clients assert they’ve remitted over USD 3,200,000, settling their debts.

Chilufya advocated in judicial review proceedings against the Ministry's decisions, crucial for protecting whistleblowers and challenging government actions. This case culminated in a Court of Appeal order for the Client's withheld remuneration to be paid.

Mark advised Green Safaris Zambia Limited, which operates Ila Safari Lodge in Kafue National Park, on a fire insurance policy with Nico Insurance Zambia Limited. The policy covered property damage and business interruption up to USD 1,817,300 per loss. After partial payment and delayed processing of the claim, legal action was initiated to recover the full value and seek damages for the delay. This case aimed to set a precedent for timely insurance claim processing, particularly for business interruption claims.
