MAY and Company Advises Kafue Fisheries on USD 750,000 Land Sale to Golden Baobab for Solar Project in MFEZ

MAY and Company acted for Kafue Fisheries Limited (the “Client”) in the sale of 200 hectares of land to Golden Baobab Investment Limited (the “Purchaser”), a company specializing in mining and construction machinery. The sale was part of the expansion of the Golden Baobab Multi-Facility Economic Zone (MFEZ), approved by Cabinet in July 2024. MAY and Company’s role included preparing the transaction documents, structuring the deal under MFEZ regulations, and handling the land transfer. The MFEZ offers incentives like reduced taxes and import duties to attract investment and foster infrastructure development. The land, located near Zambia’s National Control Centre, is ideal for energy infrastructure. The Purchaser plans to set up a solar power station within the MFEZ, contributing to Zambia’s renewable energy goals and helping address power shortages. USD 750,000. No. Lead partner: Harriet Mdala. Other team members: Hlezipe Alexis Halwiindi. Other firms: Kang’ombe and Associates – Legal counsel for the Purchaser. Completed – December 2024.
